Check out the information below, and check out how to apply here!
About the residency
The Rävemåla Residency Programme is an Artist-in-Residency programme based in Rävemåla, Sweden, running during the summer of 2017. Located in the quiet Swedish countryside, less than an hour away from the historic city of Kalmar and the Baltic Sea, the family house sits amongst forests, lakes, rivers and beautiful rural countryside in one of the least populated countries on earth.
What we offer
The RRP offers guests a unique stay providing the accommodation, space, solitude and materials needed to fulfil a wide range of creative disciplines. Materials and resources will be provided as far as possible to help visitors fulfil a particular project or goal, and guests are invited to live in the beautiful, summer house for the duration of their residency, approximately 1 month, depending on project.
Artists are invited to adapt their practise to the conditions of the house, and use the surroundings as an art environment.
About the house
Rävemåla is a small village located 40 km away from Kalmar in southern Sweden. The RRP house can be found on the outer fringes of this village, surrounded by farmland, simplicity and space. The immediate environment is one of rural solitude and stillness, perfect for those wishing to escape into the wild and work without distractions.
The 5 bedroom house is approximately 140m2 sitting on 3700m2 of land. There is electricity throughout, fireplaces for heating and a working well, however presently there is no wifi or running water. Bicycles enable local transportation but aside from that, guests will be relatively alone in their surroundings, living independently of conventional means.
This unique location means that visitors leave very little in the way of a carbon footprint and the house offers guests an amazing opportunity for escapism and total freedom. In years to come it is the aim for the house to be totally self-sustainable. This is an aim we’d be very glad to have guests help us realise.
Who can apply
We welcome applications from all creative and craft disciplines including: writers, visual artists, chefs, craftspeople, musicians, architects. The rural location and the size of the house makes it suitable for groups and families, however individuals are also welcome to apply.
